Alec Baldwin, who plays a satirical version of Donald Trump on “SNL,” responded to critical tweets launched at him by the president-elect.
On Sunday, Trump tweeted: “I watched parts of @nbcsnl Saturday Night Live last night. It is a totally one-sided, biased show - nothing funny at all. Equal time for us?”
Baldwin, 58, returned to “SNL” with his Trump impression in a sketch that portrayed the incoming U.S. president as being unprepared for the White House.
He responded to Trump’s messages. “Equal time? Election is over. There is no more equal time. Now u try 2 b Pres + ppl respond. That’s pretty much it,” he wrote.
“You know what I would do if I were Prez?” he continued, tweeting from his Alec Baldwin Foundation account. “I‘d be focused on how to improve the lives of AS MANY AMERICANS AS POSSIBLE … I’d be focused on improving our reputation abroad, including actually fighting for freedom and not just oil.”
“I would make appointments that encouraged people, not generate fear and doubt,” Baldwin added. “I could go on. You want more advice, call me. I'll be at SNL.”
Trump has railed against Baldwin’s impression, which gained him renewed popularity before Election Day.
On Saturday, in New Jersey, Trump held a meeting with former presidential candidate and Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
“We had a far-reaching conversation with regard to the various theaters in the world where there are interests of the United States of real significance. We discussed those areas and exchanged our views on those topics,” Romney said after the meeting, as reported by CNN.
Pence said Romney is being actively considered as Trump’s secretary of state.
And on Sunday, Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence are meeting with several other officials, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and others.
