Aja Metoyer has been confirmed as the mother of Dwayne Wade’s child.
Wade, a Miami Heat star, said that he was on a break from his relationship to actress Gabrielle Union when he got together with Metoyer.
“I had a time, a part in our break, in our pain and our hurt, a blessing came out of it in my life, having a son that was born healthy,” Wade said of his relationship with Union, reported the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “So I’m moving on.”
Wade recently proposed to Union, and the pair are planning to get married.
Wade, 31, also has two sons from a prior marriage to Siovaughn Funches, and is also raising a nephew at his Miami home. Union was aware of Wade’s child with Metoyer, according to Wade.
The new son, Xavier Zechariah Wade, was born in Los Angeles on November 10, according to the birth certificate obtained by TMZ. This was six weeks before Wade proposed to Union.
Metoyer reportedly has two children with Damon Wayans Jr., the comedian and actor. The pair were reportedly high school sweethearts. She is 30.
Wade reportedly visited his new son as recently as this week.
While he claimed that he and his fiance were on break at the time, Instagram photos from Union show the pair together around the time the conception would have happened, around nine months prior to November 10.
