An airport in Michigan was evacuated after a police officer was reportedly stabbed on Wednesday.

The incident took place at around 9 a.m. local time inside the airport, located along I-75 near I-69, CBS Detroit reported.

The officer who was stabbed is in critical condition, Michigan State Police said, adding that the airport will remain closed amid an investigation. It’s unclear when it will be reopened.

The FBI, ATF, and state police troopers are on the scene.

Witness Ken Brown told Fox2 Detroit: “The cop was on his hands and knees bleeding from his neck. I said they need to get him a towel.”

“Please keep the officer in your prayers,” Michigan state police wrote on Twitter.
