The airless tires are just one of many features on the new Polaris ATV, but they may be the best.

The Polaris WV850 was inspired by a military ATV, and includes a 77 hp engine and military-grade transmission.

And the airless tires ensure no flats, Polaris says on its website.

The tires also have a better center of balance and improved cornering.

The core of the tires is made with a web of plastic honeycombs and surrounded by a thick band of rubber tread, reported the Star Tribune.

“Even if up to 30 percent of the web is damaged, the tire can still function,” said Richard Haddad, general manager of Polaris’ defense division.

To prove how awesome and durable the tire is, Polaris shot a .50-caliber bullet into one tire then rode the machine for 5,000 miles.

“We drove one with a railroad spike in it for over 1,000 miles. The thing drove like it was brand new,” Haddad said. “These are designed to last the life of the vehicle. This capability gives our troops an edge when operating in rugged, war-torn terrain.”
