SAN DIEGO—A 27-year-old man was killed and a second man was injured in a shooting in front of a neighborhood market near Mount Hope Cemetery in Mountain View on Feb. 15.

San Diego Police Department (SDPD) officers were called about 2:40 p.m. to the 3600 block of Ocean View Boulevard on multiple reports of the shooting and found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his upper body lying on the sidewalk, according to a department statement.

Officers provided first aid to the man, but he died of his wounds at the scene. His name was not immediately released pending notification of his next of kin, though police said he was 27 years old.

A preliminary investigation revealed the man and “another male” were standing near Mike’s Market at 3676 Ocean View Boulevard when they were approached by three armed suspects who opened fire, according to the SDPD.

The two victims ran northbound into a parking lot, where one fell to the ground. The second man ran away and was later taken by private vehicle to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects were only described as males who wore dark clothing. All three were armed with handguns at the time of the shooting.

Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call the SDPD Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
