The husband of a murdered woman was arrested in Alabama on Thursday, Feb. 22, prompting the parents of both the woman and the husband to say that he’s innocent.

Kathleen West was found dead in her home in Calera last month.

Authorities said that she died from blunt force trauma although what weapon was used has not been revealed.

Police have characterized the death as a domestic incident.

West’s husband Jeff West was arrested on Feb. 22, but his parents said that he’s innocent.

“Pissed off because I know they screwed it up and they’re trying to blame somebody and they told (him) it was circumstantial evidence and they say they got proof. They don’t know what they’ve got,” said Jeff West’s father, William West, reported WBMA.

Jeff West’s parents said that Kathleen West’s parents agree with them that Jeff West is innocent.

Kathleen or “Kat” West was a mother and model who was known as “Kitty Kat West” on Instagram, Twitter, and other social media websites.

Those pages linked to a subscription-only adult website through which she served clients online.

William West said that his son was aware of the side job and that it wasn’t a big deal.

“She wasn’t fooling around on anybody else. This was just a photo thing and there’s a lot of freaks out there that get into that stuff,” he said.

The case has garnered national attention.

Jeff West was booked into the Shelby County Jail and charged with murder.

His bond was set at $500,000.

Calera Police Chief Sean Lemley said that Jeff West was a suspect since the beginning of the case.

The arrest came after four detectives interviewed dozens of witnesses and collected evidence for the case. Analysis of the final piece of evidence came in from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences on Tuesday, after which detectives submitted the case to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office for review, reported AL.com.

However, police have kept the details released to the public scant and Lemley would not say what led police to believe West committed the murder of his wife.

“We know exactly what happened that night,'' Lemley said, ”And we do have evidence to support that.”

Lemley said police don’t know for sure what happened after surveillance video captured them looking happy on the Friday night before her body was found outside their home and the death, and noted police had never responded to any domestic incidents at the couple’s home.

He also said that West had not confessed to the murder and that West was calm.

“In the times that I have seen him,'' Lemley said, ”he didn’t seem to be very upset.”
