Collingwood started the second quarter looking fresher than St Kilda.

They looked as though they had their wheels on straight. Nuts done up tight. No Wobbles.

A strong and important goal to Travis Cloak and the lead was back to 2 goals.

The high pressure of both of their defences meant that it took almost 2/3 of the quarter for Collinwood to manage a behind—adding a point to their score.

Actor Eric Bana was there wearing a Saints baseball cap and a pair of aviator sunnies, chewing pensively on gum, as Kilda trailed Collingwood by a goal with 10 minutes to go in the second quarter.

A goal to Justin Koschitzke with 10 minutes left in the half and the game was back on St Kilda’s terms. The two big forwards and dangerous small forward had a goal each. Tight and low scoring as the Saints start to play chess knowing they have a strong end-game if the score is kept tight.

An Alan Toovey miss soon after for another Pies behind. A goal to Brent Macaffer broke open the Saints defence—14 points the difference in favour of the black and white.

Collingwood’s inaccuracy at kicking for goal reappeared in their game. The one area that was a weakness all season until the finals meant their lead wouldn’t be fair recompense because they were winning across the field.

When Harry O’Brien straightened them up for his first goal to stretch the lead out to 4 goals, ideas of inaccuracy could be forgotten.

A 3 goal 6 behind quarter to 1 goal. Pies were four goals up going in the rooms at the long break. It could have been much more.

Do the Saints have anything left in 2010, so they can find a way to goal and keep their hopes closer in reach?
