NEW YORK—The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals announced the launch of an informative online resource center on Thursday, which aims to assist pet owners across New York City in finding affordable pet care amidst the challenges of the current economic climate.

The new micro-site, available through the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals main Web site, offers up-to-date information pertaining to affordable veterinary services, spay/neuter clinics, and microchipping. It also provides links to food banks specializing in pet food, temporary boarding, and foster care options.

“It’s important that people understand that there are resources available to help them continue to care for their pets properly during these tough economic times, and allow them to keep their pets at home instead of surrendering them to a shelter because they feel they can no longer afford to keep them,” noted Jane Hoffman, president of the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals.

The organization plans to update the website on a continuous basis as new resources are identified.
