Software giant Adobe Systems Inc. this week reported record-setting fiscal second-quarter revenues of $943 million on robust software sales, a clear signal that IT spending is on the upswing globally.

Net income rose to $148.6 million, or an 18 percent increase from the same period last year. The company said that sales were strong due to robust sales of its flagship design software, Creative Suite 5, which was released a few months ago.

“Record revenue and our strong Q2 financial performance were driven by the successful launch of Creative Suite 5,” Shantanu Narayen, CEO of Adobe, said in a statement. “Our growth is being fueled by the explosion of digital content across all media and devices.”
