Action Express, winner of the 2010 Grand Am Rolex 24 at Daytona, will be back in 2013 with a powerful driver lineup, seeking a second victory.

Action Express will again bring two Coyote-Corvette Daytona Prototypes to Daytona International Speedway. The No. 5 car features a driving team of Rolex veterans: Brian Frisselle and 2004 Rolex winner Christian Fittipaldi, 2012 Rolex podium finisher Felipe Nasr, and former F1 and current NASCAR driver Nelson Piquet Jr.

Action Express’s No. 9 car will be piloted by a pair of the drivers who earned the team its 2010 Rolex win: regular team driver Joao Barbosa and Audi factory driver and two-time Le Mans 24 winner Mike Rockenfeller. Joining this pair will be Burt Frisselle, who will stay with Action Express through the entire 2013 season.

These two driver teams (minus Mike Rockenfeller) were at Daytona for the Roar Before the Rolex 24 test days in early January, and the whole team was happy with the result.

“We are really happy with this line up,” said Elton Sawyer, Action Express Racing director of race team operations, on the team’s website. “Both of our Corvette DPs have drivers that not only bring a lot of speed, but also a really wide range of experience both in and out of Daytona Prototypes.

“The Roar test was really productive for us, and it was great for the drivers to get comfortable with the cars, and with each other. This is going to be the most competitive Rolex 24 yet, and we are looking forward to the challenge.”

Action Express, along with the rest of the Rolex 24 field, starts practicing for the race Thursday, Jan. 24. The race itself starts at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Daytona International Speedway.

Tickets are available through Grand-Am.com.
