Television network ABC has given a thumbs up to its first new pilot for the 2011–12 season. The yet-to-be-named drama revolves around a PR crisis guru and her “dysfunctional staff.”

Head honcho for the show will be Shonda Rhimes of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice” fame. The plot is reportedly inspired by the 20-plus-year career of top-gun PR and communications expert Judy Smith, who served as deputy press secretary for President George H.W. Bush, and also represented such clients as Monica Lewinsky and the parents of slain Washington intern Chandra Levy.
