AAA is offering free tow truck rides during the Labor Day holiday on Sept. 3 for people who are impaired and unable to drive their own vehicles.

The Tipsy Tow service will be available from 6 p.m. on Sept. 3 to 6 a.m. on Sept. 4 and includes a free vehicle tow and ride of up to 10 miles for any driver. AAA membership is not necessary to use the service, according to the company.

“As Californians enjoy summer’s last hurrah, AAA wants to discourage anyone from getting behind the wheel if they are intoxicated,” AAA Northern California spokesman Michael Blasky said in a statement.

People can call (800) AAA-HELP and say they need a Tipsy Tow. For rides beyond 10 miles, motorists will be charged a standard towing rate.
