A woman in the UK is pleading for the release of her mother, who has been abducted by police in China, who have targeted her because she practises Falun Gong.
Minghui Yu told NTD, a sister media of The Epoch Times, that her mother, Meihong Wang, has been abducted again. She was taken by police on Nov. 23 near Heilongjiang University in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province.
“They [took] everything away from her, including a computer, a USB, and her keys and other things.”
Yu was left alone as a child when her parents were both imprisoned almost 20 years ago.
Both parents suffered ongoing and repeated torture due to the persecution of Falun Gong by the communist regime.
Falun Gong is an ancient Chinese meditation practice that follows the principles of truth, compassion, and tolerance.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, the former leader of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), ordered the eradication of Falun Gong that lead to the persecution of about 100 million Chinese practitioners of the practise. This year, there have been more cases of persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
Jim Shannon a chair member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Freedom of Religion said, “they’re a very gentle people, the Falun Gong. They’re certainly not controversial. They just want to be able to worship in the way that they can.”
When Minghui Yu found out her mother was illegally detained and sent to Harbin City Hospital Police station, she called them every day. She said, “They didn’t give me any, clear information or any clear reasons, they just told me something like, you don’t talk with a policeman about law or regulations.”
A 2007 report says the hospital has a backyard where Falun Gong practitioners have been murdered.
Executive Director of the Falun Dafa Information Center, Levi Browde, says what CCP officials fear the most is public pressure.
“We’ve even had government officials that have said, give me the phone number to the labor camp or the detention center where this person is being held, and pick up the phone and call them. This kind of pressure is really what helps the most, we’ve seen many cases where immediately they‘ll back out, they’ll sort of back down, sometimes they'll even release people,” said Browde.
Jim Shannon, a Parliament member, says he can directly take Yu’s mother’s case up with the UK Foreign Secretary.
Yu clarified, “I hope the authorities could release her right now and stop the persecution.”
She hopes the persecution will end not just for her parents, but for the millions who are persecuted for their faith in her native China.
