Two teenagers in Florida are dead after their vehicle was hit head-on by an RV driven by a 98-year-old man.

Walter Roney of Dearborn, Michigan was driving west in the eastbound lane of Okeechobee road when he slammed into the teens, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, reported the TC Palm.

Roney and his passenger, Carolyn Bruns, 75, were rushed to the hospital and are listed in critical and serious condition respectively.

Santia Feketa, 17, and Britney Poindexter, 16, both Florida residents, were killed.
Both teenagers were wearing their seatbelts, reported The Palm Beach Post.
According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, drivers with licenses in the state must renew in person every eight years.

So-called “aging” drivers are encouraged to go through a series of self-administered tests to determine if they are still able to drive safely.

However, there are no specific requirements for drivers to meet as they get older.
