911 over sandwich: A Springfield, Mo., man earlier this week called 911 because he was unhappy with his sandwich order.

The man, who was not named, was displeased with his Jimmy John’s order. He was not charged or arrested, but authorities weren’t pleased with the call, according to the Springfield News-Leader.

The man’s information was sent to the Greene County Prosecutor, and he could face charges.

“That’s obviously time (dispatchers) can’t be spending on any other calls,” Assistant 911 Emergency Communications Director J.R. Webb told the paper.

He said that four dispatchers, at a given moment, are answering 12 incoming emergency calls.

Those who misuse the 911 emergency service could face a misdemeanor charge and potentially six months in jail.

In late February, an Indiana man was jailed for calling a 911 dispatcher nine times for a cheeseburger.

“Well I asked if you had an emergency. You said no, you needed a cheeseburger. So we don’t take cheeseburger orders,” the dispatcher told the man after he repeatedly demanded a burger, according to WISH-TV.

The man was ultimately detained and he was not given a cheeseburger, authorities said at the time.
