A 9-year-old Michigan boy was killed in a house fire on Monday morning.

Trey Coburn was found by firefighters after they finally extinguished the flames that engulfed his family’s home in Morrish Road in Swartz Creek.

Trey, whose given name was Harold, was trapped in a locked bedroom in the back of the house.

His father tried to run in to find the child and had to be restrained by firefighters, reported ABC12.

The fire started around 11 a.m.

Chris Henry, who says she is the boy’s aunt, described Trey to NBC25 as a “great little kid who didn’t deserve this.”

The fire is under investigation.
