At least nine people were shot at a baby “gender reveal” party on Saturday, July 8, which left one woman dead in Colerain Township, Ohio.

Three children were wounded in the incident, police said, WCPO-TV reported. The shootings took place at around 11:20 p.m.

The children’s injuries are non-life-threatening, and they were taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. One victim who was pregnant lost her baby after being shot, she told WCPO.

Another adult victim is in critical condition.

Partygoers were watching a moving when shots were fired, police said.

“I just seen two people walk by,” a man told a 911 operator, the station reported. “I looked outside, next thing I know they just ran in and just started shooting.”

“Detectives have a couple of leads they’re following up on,” said Jim Love, Colerain police public information officer, adding that nobody is in custody. Love said he’s not sure if the children were specifically targeted.

“You’re hoping that there won’t be situations like this,” Love said. “These are the nights that you look back on and you regret that they ever happened. This will be one of those nights.”

Police responded quickly, he told WLWT. “Immediately the scene was secured. And then as soon as it was secured, the EMTs were right around the corner. They were immediately called in,” he said.

“As of right now, I do not know what instigated this,” Love said. “I do not know how this got started.”
