An Indian traffic police officer has exemplified what it means to extend a loving hand of kindness to a fellow human being in need.
An 80-year-old lady who had remained curled up for three days by a Hyderabad roadside nearby the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) was a sore sight that Mr. B.Gopal, a Kukatpally traffic officer, could not ignore.
“The elderly woman who was seated near JNTUH crossroads reminded me of my mother,” recalled Gopal in spring of 2018, per the New Indian Express. “I could not stop myself from helping her.”
The considerate man went out of his way to provide the impoverished woman a meal.
“I offered her a cup of tea and then bought lunch for her,” says Gopal, reports The Hindu. “But she was unable to even eat with her own hands, so I fed her.”
A photo of the officer was tweeted on April 1, much to the enthusiastic affirmation of numerous Twitter users.
“This is called change, not only friendly police, also called social responsibility,” tweeted one man.
“Humanity can be clearly seen in this Gentleman,” wrote another. “Hats off B.Gopal.”
Here’s one comment that is sure to ring resoundingly: “It’s people like you who enhance our lives, who make the world a wonderful place, who inspire us to put others first, who help us to overlook the evil. ❤Thank you.”
The lady, who identified herself as Buchamma, is originally from a nearby neighborhood, about 9 miles from where she was found.
Sadly, although she has nine children, it’s evident that she needs help from caring people outside of her family, which is why she has been moved to Anand Ashram in Cherlapally.
Anand Ashram is a shelter for the homeless and is run by the prisons department. Thankfully, Buchamma will be looked after there, provided for, and will no longer be destitute on the streets.
Gopal’s great deed is not only inspiring but is an exemplification of what a human being should be like—kind and considerate.
