Marge Brown joined the so-called Extra Miler Club, whose members visit every county in the United States, on July 21 after walking into Barry County, Michigan.
About 40 people greeted Brown at her final destination and congratulated the woman on her 76th birthday, reports the Kalamazoo Gazette.
“No matter how old you are — age is always in your mind — you can do what you want to do,” Brown said. “My sister (who was present Sunday) is eight years older than me and I took her to Europe, we’ve taken a cruise and had wonderful times, so age is all up here in your head. That’s it.”
She plans on visiting Australia and Antarctica in the future, after which she will have set foot on all seven continents.
Her granddaughter Amber Netz, 23, who lives in Nashville flew in for the event.
““I hope I can keep up with her when I’m her age … from the time I was a little girl, she’s the reason why I’ve traveled and seen so much of the country,” Netz, who has been to 47 states, said.
While 48 states have counties, the nationwide trip included visiting all 64 parishes in Louisiana and all 19 boroughs in Alaska.
