Parts of the Long Beach 710 Freeway in near Los Angeles were closed down after a big rig crash on Sunday morning.

Smoke from the ensuing fire was seen for several miles, according to photos posted on Twitter.

Reports said the truck caught fire in the city of Commerce, reported CBS LA.

The accident took place on the southbound section of the freeway.

NBC News reported that homes were being evacuated near the fire.

The crash was reported at the Washington Boulevard offramp, officials said.

Two people were hospitalized in the crash.
