50 Cent was charged Wednesday with assaulting his ex-girlfriend, it was reported.

TMZ and the Los Angeles Times reported that the  rapper, born Curtis Jackson, was charged with domestic violence involving the woman, who is the mother of his child.

Jackson was charged with five criminal counts, including four counts of vandalism and one count of domestic violence.

“Regardless of perceived celebrity or notoriety, domestic violence is a serious crime and alleged perpetrators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law by this office,” City Atty. Mike Feuer told the Times.

“We will continue to look out for the safety of all victims of domestic violence and seek justice for the alleged crimes.”

In the incident, LAPD officers were called to the victim’s house in Toluca Lake, Calif., reported TMZ. The rapper allegedly did more than $7,000 in damage to her home.

He also allegedly kicked in the woman’s door and kicked her.

Officers told TMZ that he left the scene before police arrived.
