Five Mississippi teens have now been charged in the death of a 16-year-old girl from Biloxi, said local officials.

Police said the five Biloxi teens tried to rob 16-year-old Madison Harris at gunpoint at a home, according to WLOX.

The teenagers are identified as Yakeshia L. Blackmon, 17; Willow O. Blackmon, 15; Jasmine Joy-Sade Kelley, 15; Jarvis Jermaine Cook, 17; and Jaquez Devonte Porter, 17, officials said.

Biloxi police said five teens threatened her with a gun before a fight broke out, according to The Associated Press.

Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer said Harris was shot and was taken to the hospital, where she died in the operating room, AP reported.

An autopsy is scheduled for this week in Jackson, the state capital, he said.

According to the AP, one of the teens was out on bond for an aggravated assault charge in Gulfport. He is being held without bond, while the others are being held on $1 million bond each.

After the shooting, the five juveniles fled the scene in several directions, leading to a neighborhood search. Witnesses and evidence led investigators to locate and arrest all five suspects shortly after the incident, officials told WLOX.

An investigation into the case is ongoing.

James Waldeck, who is engaged to the victim’s grandmother, said that Madison considered some of the suspects as her friends.

“They were in our house a number of different times, I thought as friends, yes,” Waldeck told WLOX in another report. “They just lived two or three houses down and across the street.”

Officials didn’t provide any other details about the case.
