The San Francisco 49ers, after a 31-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, reportedly fired their offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye and hired Mike Johnson as his replacement.

After going 0 - 3 when they were thought to be the NFC West favorites, the 49ers let Raye go on Monday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, even though coach Mike Singletary said Raye would remain the coordinator for the rest of the season.

The 49ers have scored the second-fewest points thus far at 12.7 per game and are ranked 20th in yards per game. Quarterback Alex Smith has been inconsistent.

“We were pretty ineffective the entire game,” Smith said after the game, according to NFL.com “I don’t know if there is anything to point to. I think it is everything. We were pretty inept all the way around, throwing the ball, running the ball, protecting, penalties, it was all in there.”

Johnson, who was the quarterback coach, was immediately promoted to take the offensive coordinator position. Jason Michael now assumes the role as QB coach.
