Around 40 pounds of cocaine was found in the ceiling of the Toronto Pearson International Airport, officials said on Thursday.

Officers took about 16 packages worth some $2 million from the bathroom after they were discovered on June 17, the Canada Border Services Agency said.

It is unclear where the cocaine packages were from.

The packages were wrapped in plastic with tape, with “breakable” and “fragile” markings on the outside.

“Toronto continues to be a shipping and trans-shipping point for local and other point drug smuggling,” Insp. Dean Dickson with the RCMP Toronto airport agency said in a statement. “We are working together to ensure that we can address this smuggling.”

Goran Vragovic, Regional Director General of the Greater Toronto Area Region, said in a statement that with the haul “attempting to smuggle drugs is simply not worth it.”

Canadian border officers will “work diligently to prevent anyone from using international airports for illegal cross-border activities,” he added.
