4 shot in basement: Police are investigating the shooting deaths of four young adults in an Ohio basement.

Police are investigating the deaths of four young adults who were found shot in the head in the basement of an Akron, Ohio, townhouse.

The shootings were described as execution-style and the victims included two men and two women, reported the Akron Beacon Journal. They were found in the basement of a townhouse that was owned by a victim’s sister.

Relatives said that shell casings were found scattered through the apartment.

The identities of the victims were not disclosed as of Thursday evening.

April Roberts-Gilbert, 45, told the Journal that her son, 24-year-old Ronald Roberts, was one of the victims.

“My son would not do anything for anything like this to happen,” she told the paper. “I just feel that it is wrong that they’re out there killing each other. And for what? What does it solve? It’s not solving anything.”

She added: “Now, I have a 24-year-old son that I have to put away. And for what? Can you please tell my why? That’s all I want to know. Why?”

Police said they had all been shot in the head at close range.

A friend at the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority complex told reporters he went into the townhome just before 3 p.m. Thursday and saw shell casings on the floor before discovering the bodies in the basement.

The housing complex is in the Chapel Hill section of Akron, about 35 miles south of Cleveland.

Police spent Thursday night collecting evidence and talking to neighbors.
