A winning $31 million Mega Millions jackpot ticket for Tuesday night’s drawing was sold at a grocery store in Belchertown, Massachusetts. The cash option on the prize is $16.3 million if the winner wants to take the money in a lump sum.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission, the multi-million dollar jackpot winner came from a Belchertown Stop & Shop on George Hannum Road. The store will receive a $50,000 bonus for the sale of the winning ticket.

The winning numbers from the Jan. 24 Mega Millions drawing were: 33-41-47-50-62, Mega Ball: 20.

Tuesday’s winner is the fourth Mega Millions jackpot won in Massachusetts since 2002, when the game expanded and its name was changed from The Big Game to Mega Millions, the Lottery said.

The last time a Mega Millions jackpot was hit in Massachusetts was Oct. 16, 2012, when a ticket sold at AM/PM Convenience in Hyannis split a $61 million jackpot with a ticket sold in California.

The $31 million prize is the sixth-largest lottery prize ever won in the state of Massachusetts.

  2. $294 million from Mega Millions on July 2, 2004, at Powers Wine Co. in Lowell

  4. $50 million from Powerball on Dec. 12, 2012, at a Shell gas station in Lexington
  5. $32 million from Mega Millions on Aug. 19, 2011, at Tedeschi Food Shop in Dorchester
  6. $31 million from Mega Millions on Jan. 24, 2021, at Stop & Shop #435 in Belchertown
  7. $30.5 million from Mega Millions on Oct. 16, 2012, at AM/PM Convenience in Hyannis
  8. $25.6 million from Powerball on Jun. 8, 2011, at Joe’s Market in Fall River
  9. $16.35 million from Megabucks Doubler on Sept. 10, 2022, at Cumberland Farms in Ware
  10. $13.82 million from Megabucks Doubler on Mar. 10, 2012, at Main St. Variety in Wakefield
There is no word on the identity of the winner. The jackpot prize must be claimed within one year from the date of the drawing at the Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters at 150 Mount Vernon Street in Dorchester.

The next drawing for Mega Millions is Friday, with a jackpot of up to $20 million.

The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350, according to Massachusetts Lottery.
