Three Georgia teens died in a car crash shortly after they left a high school football game, WSB-TV reported.

First responders who arrived at the scene found a badly damaged Toyota 4Runner partially submerged in a stream running in the roadside embankment.

The car reportedly swerved to avoid a collision, ran over a guardrail, crashed into a tree, flipped over and landed in a stream. As the sun rose in the morning, the car’s rear bumper rested in the muddy water at the spot of the tragedy.

The crash occurred on Oct. 27, at 10:16 p.m. on Steve Reynolds Boulevard not far from Meadowcreek High School in Gwinnett County, Georgia, police say.

Police identified the four teenage males in the car as Brandon Martinez, 18, Nelson Umanzor, 18, Naseer Alwakeel, 16, and Mesiah Allen, 17.

Seventeen-year-old Allen was the only one to survive the crash. He is in critical condition at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The crash happened after Meadowcreek High School football game against Parkview High School. Police spokesman Jacob Albright said that speed is being investigated as a factor.

According to a student from Meadowcreek High School, all three of the teens who died attended the school.

The father of one of the 16-year-olds, Alwakeel, shared a photo of his son with local media.

Police say Martinez drove the car. He swerved to avoid a crash as he approached a smaller vehicle.

“Based on witness accounts and evidence collected on scene, it was determined that Martinez swerved to the right to avoid a collision, and lost control of the vehicle,” Albright said in a news release.

“The Toyota 4Runner veered to the right and went airborne after striking a guardrail, then colliding with a tree.”

Accident investigators were still on the scene on Saturday morning to determine the circumstances of the crash, Gwinnett Daily Post reported.
Alwakeel’s father was on the scene on Saturday morning. He said his son had four siblings, ran cross country, and played lacrosse, CBS 46 reported.

The Meadowcreek Soccer team sent a Twitter message about the tragedy.

“Pray for Meadowcreek and the families affected by this tragedy,” the message read.
