Three people were arrested in connection with the murder of an Alabama woman whose body was found at the side of a road.

The body of Jennifer Raven Nevin, 23, was found on Monday afternoon, July 17, near a gas well in Tuscaloosa, WMGA-TV reported. She was seen last Friday dropping off her son with her mother.

Koran Rashad Lewis, 23, Kendrick Ky'Andre Marshall, 16, and Vida Milagros Confetti, 20, were charged Tuesday with murder, officials said.

“We developed some leads last night, worked on them all day today,” Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit Capt. Gary Hood was quoted by the Tuscaloosa News as saying. “We interviewed multiple people, several witnesses. We were able to develop a timeline and recreate the last days of Miss Nevin’s life.”

Nevin’s brother, Will said that her death may have been related to the people with whom she was associating.

“She had just developed the wrong circle of friends, the types of friends who weren’t looking to take care of or look out for her,” he said Monday, as reported by the Tuscaloosa News. “We tried. We tried so hard, and it wasn’t enough.”

Relatives told AL.com that Nevin struggled with substance abuse, but her death wasn’t an overdose.

“I want people to know that what happened to her wasn’t her fault. She had so much to give to society and to people,” Will Nevin told AL.com. “It’s just a shame she’s not going to have that chance. It’s a shame that her son is not going to see her again.”
