LOS ANGELES—Two Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers were initially reported in critical condition and one was in serious condition Monday morning, Feb. 14, following a crash on the Harbor (110) Freeway in the Pico Union area involving a hit-and-run motorist.

The crash was reported at 2:12 a.m. on the southbound Harbor Freeway at Olympic Boulevard, said the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey.

All three officers were taken by paramedics to County USC Medical Center, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Fox 11 reported from the scene that the conditions of the critical officers were upgraded to serious, that three officers in another patrol car witnessed the crash and arrested the suspected hit-and-run driver, and that all were returning to the Harbor Station after performing post-Super Bowl duties downtown.

The CHP issued a SigAlert at 2:43 a.m. shutting down the southbound Harbor Freeway at the Santa Monica (10) Freeway with the transitions to the eastbound and westbound 10 Freeway remaining open. The SigAlert was later lifted.
