German federal police have purchased a 3-D printer to see how easy it is to print guns.

After a question by a faction in the parliament questioned the police on how they are responding to 3-D software, the Federal Criminal Police Office and the Federal Police decided to buy a 3-D printer. The agencies are looking at how easy it is for people to print the guns, and also the potential use for the agencies themselves.

The Heise German news service reported that the agencies have been discussing the subject with Australian police, and keeping an eye on developments in the United States.
