When 2Chainz was robbed, he thought it was a television prank.

“I saw the gun first,” 2 Chainz, born Tauheed Epps, told Hot 107 in Georgia. “It was like a .357. It was so heavy he couldn’t really hold it. The gun was so big. That’s what made me take off running.”

Armed men approached his entourage on a San Francisco street on June 9. The Georgia-based rapper initially believed the incident was an episode of MTV’s “Punk’d.”

Epps said, “When I went into the street, there was another dude with a whole [another] gun. That’s when I knew it wasn’t like an episode of ‘Punk’d.’ I was like this is real…I had bullet fragments in my hair.”

Epps believed that one of the assailants shot at him.

“I think he thought he shot me. I’m just excited about life. I’m so turn’t up, you can’t turn me down. I’m just geeked about life. Then when I saw the footage, I’m like it was real,” he said.

Days after the robbery, celebrity website TMZ posted a video of the robbery, showing a man holding a gun before 2Chainz and his crew ran for their lives.

Police said the assailants stole Epps’s wallet and cell phone.
