27-Pound Baby Born in China

According to a report on Taiwan Television (TTV) news, several days ago, a woman in Liaoning Province, northern China, gave birth to a 27-pound baby girl, about three times heavier than the average baby.

The baby girl was carried to full term. She was about 24 inches long and the circumference of her head was appproximately16 inches. She had very thick hair and looked quite large and strong compared to other babies.

The mother said that she didn’t eat anything special during her pregnancy. She had eggplants and peanuts everyday and her appetite wasn’t great.

Clinically, newborns weighing over nine pounds are considered fetal macrosomia cases (newborns with excessive birth weights.) Most cases of fetal macrosomia occur in newborn boys.

The 27-pound baby girl did fine in her physical checkups. The hospital specially injected her with calcium gluconate to boost her immune system.
