In a 14-hour span on Monday, 21 people were shot in Chicago, leaving two dead, according to reports.

WGN-TV, citing Chicago police, said that four boys under the age of 18 were injured.

Police said that six young people were shot and injured at Ellis Park in the South Side neighborhood of Chicago. That shooting took place at 10:45 p.m. on Monday in the 3700 block of South Vincennes Avenue, according to the report.

Some of those who were wounded refused to divulge information to the authorities.

A 15-year-old boy was shot in the ankle on Monday, and others who were shot ranged in age from 19 to 27. They were reportedly in good to stable condition.

Police said that in another incident, an 11-year-old boy was hit in the leg by a stray bullet while walking to a Washington Park store. The boy wasn’t the intended target of the shooting, police said.

The first shooting on Monday took place in the 13300 block of South Prairie Avenue on the city’s Far South Side at around 3 p.m.

Over the weekend, 35 people were wounded and three were killed across Chicago, CBS Chicago reported.

In 2018, at least 1,238 people have been shot in Chicago, and there have been 230 homicides, which is substantially higher than in recent years. However, the figure represents a citywide drop compared to the past two years.
