Lotus announced in early February that it would enter a pair of brand-new LMP2 chassis in the A2013 CO-FIA World Endurance Championship including the Le Mans 24. Now the factory has published the first pictures of the new car’s driver compartment.

The new chassis, dubbed the T128, is being designed and built by Colin Kolles’ Kodewa factory in Greding Germany. Kodewa, formerly Kolles racing, campaigned older Audis in the European Le Mans Series and Intercontinental Le Mans Cup in 2010 and 2011, as well as operating the HRT Formula One team in those years.

Lotus has released the first photographs of the cockpit of the new car’s monocoque, pointing out that while it meets current LMP2 regulations, it is also designed to meet the new ACO-FIA 2014 LMP1 specs’ strict rules on driver position and outward visibility.

Given the fact that the cockpit meets both sets of regulations, it seems a foregone conclusion that lotus will be entering the P1 class in 2014.

Lotus first contested the WEC with a pair of Judd-powered Lola coupes in 2012. Drivers James Rossiter, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Kevin Weeda, and Thomas Holzer will return to drive the new T128.
