An article is claiming that a 200-million-year-old dinosaur egg hatched at the museum in Berlin, Germany, but it’s a hoax.

“A malfunction with the heating system of the Museum für Naturkunde (or Museum of Natural History) had some unforeseen consequences, as a Gasosaurus egg dating from the Jurassic period ended up hatching, giving birth to the first dinosaur to see the daylight in more than 100 million years,” the fake report from the World News Daily Report says.

The article, citing fake paleobiologist Gunther Warburg, says its the dinosaur is a Gasosaurus, of which fossils have been found in China.

World News Daily Report is website that only publishes fake news, often with a “science” theme to them.

Some of the article titles include “Israeli Archaeologist Uncovers Proof Judas Smoked Marijuana,” “Young Feminist Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize,” and “Giant sea creature killed by Indonesian army,” which uses a Photoshopped image of a giant squid from another hoax website. The squid image was originally taken in Spain last year and was placed onto a beach image.

World News Daily Report doesn’t have a disclaimer that says it is satire or publishes fake news.

As a result, a large number of people shared the fake article on Facebook and Twitter in recent days

“Soon afterwards links and excerpts referencing this item were being circulated via social media, with many of those who encountered it mistaking it for a genuine news article. However, that article was just another spoof from World News Daily Report, a tabloid-like web site whose stock in trade is publishing fantastically fictional stories such ‘Giant Housecat Now Available on Market’ and ‘Apple Announces Release of Paranormal Communication Application,’” reads a conclusion from hoax-debunking website Snopes.
