2 Teenage Boys Shot to Death at Lincoln Heights Carnival

LOS ANGELES—Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michel Moore will join with homicide investigators and victims’ family members Sept. 14 to ask for the public’s help in solving the killing of two 17-year-old boys in a shooting at a street carnival in Lincoln Heights.

Investigators are seeking witnesses to the shooting that occurred around 9 p.m. Sept. 11 at Broadway and Workman Street.

Javier Mejia and Winfield Lee, both of Los Angeles, died at the scene, the county coroner’s office reported.

According to police, a male suspect fired multiple shots at the boys and ran away. The motive was not known.

Moore, investigators, and relatives of the boys are scheduled to gather at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollenbeck Community Police station to ask for leads in the case.
