Two students were reportedly shot and injured at Graham-Kapowsin High School in Pierce County, Washington.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said the students were shot just off school grounds in Graham, Washington, at around 2:30 p.m. local time, KTVB reported.

The suspects reportedly fled in a green vehicle, perhaps a Chevrolet Impala, sheriff’s officials told the Seattle Times. According to KTVB, the suspects were described as multiple black males.

A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said they don’t believe the suspects are students at the high school and may have gang ties.

One of the victims was found in a parking lot near the school football field, and the second victim found in a locker room, the Times reported.

The students who had been shot reportedly ran back to campus after the incident.

Their conditions aren’t known.

“We are confident there are no shooters at the school or on the school grounds,” Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer was quoted by the Times as saying.

Bethel Schools said three nearby schools are on lockdown, including Graham-Kapowsin High School, Frontier Middle School, as well as Nelson Elementary.

Students at Graham Elementary School were been released to their buses with staff supervision, the Times reported.

“As you can imagine, there’s a lot of parents and they’re all upset,” Troyer was quoted as saying.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and students involved with this shooting today,” the school district said in a tweet. “This is a scary situation and we are proud of how our staff, students and families have been and are still reacting to it.”
