2 passengers overboard: Authorities say that two passengers on a cruise ship off the east coast of Australia have fallen overboard on Wednesday night.

The couple, identified as a 30-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, were said to be missing when the Carnival Cruise ship Spirit was docked in Sydney, according to CNN.

Police said the two went overboard around 93 miles off Foster in New South Wales.

“We believe that they were up mid-deck, which is halfway up the side of the ship, which is quite a way to fall,” Detective Superintendent Mark Hutchings of the New South Wales Police Marine Area Command told the network.

Hutchings said that police are still optimistic the couple could be found.

“It’s game on and we are going to be pulling out all stops to try and find these people,” he said, according to AFP “As far as I’m concerned, we are searching for them in the hope they we find them alive. Conditions are not overly bad,” he said.

Authorities said that no lifejackets went missing from the cruise line.
