Two children died and three were hurt in a serious collision in Los Angeles on Thursday night, according to reports.
Two boys were killed when a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department vehicle, responding to a radio call of shots fired hit the pedestrians.
The three-car crash took place about 7:30 p.m. in the 800 block of South Indiana Street. The impact of the crash sent the sheriff’s vehicle onto the sidewalk. That’s when it hit a mother and her two children, ages 7 and 9, said Los Angeles police Officer Drake Madison, an LAPD spokesman, the Los Angeles Times reported.
“I was inside in my home and I heard the crash. Within seconds, I was outside and just a few feet from the incident,” eyewitness Paulette de la Cruz told ABC. “When I got there I saw a little boy with a white blanket over him. Another one across, I’m not sure if he was conscious or not, but it didn’t look like he was.”
Two other cars were involved in the crash. No one in the cars were hurt.
Two deputies were in the SUV when the crash took place, according to Lopez. They’re in stable condition at a nearby hospital, KTLA reported.
