Two people were left dead in Ohio after a high-speed car chase ended in a violent crash that ripped a car into pieces.

Shaker Heights police officers were in a vehicle chasing a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt when it crashed into a tree.

The early Tuesday morning crash on Feb. 20 left the Cobalt in pieces and both people inside the vehicle perished.

Police officers said in a report obtained by News5 that the Cobalt was stolen from Cleveland when a catering driver stopped to make a delivery.

When the driver stopped, a man grabbed him by the arm and pulled him out of the car while another man hopped into the passenger seat.

The chase started when an officer saw the vehicle speeding down Harvard Avenue.

When the driver tried to make a sharp turn onto E. 151st Street, the car crashed into a tree.

Pictures from the scene show the vehicle left in four large pieces.

A video showed the pieces later being picked up and placed on flatbed trucks.

A woman who lives nearby said she was woken up by the crash.

“I woke up to this horrible noise,” the woman, who requested that her name not be used, told Fox8. “It scared me so I came down to see what was going on.”

“I’ve never seen a car like this in my entire life,” the neighbor said. “It looked like something that was in a junkyard and it was like in three different pieces. It was horrible.”
