A 19-year-old woman was found dead in Covington, and her ex-boyfriend has been charged with murder.

Newton County Sheriff’s Office investigator Jeff Alexander tells local media that 19-year-old Elijah William Ramoutar was arrested and charged with murder Tuesday in connection with the death of Alyssa Ann Wright.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to Ramoutar’s home in Covington after a third party reported “trouble unknown.” Deputies found Wright dead at the scene and arrested Ramoutar.

Family and friends told authorities that Wright and Ramoutar were previously in a relationship.

“We were sitting on the bed, laughing, joking about things that were starting to look up for us. She said, ‘Bye. I love you. I’ll be back,'” the victim’s mother, Melinda Wright was quoted by WSBTV as saying. “I don’t wish any harm to him, but I’m angry. I’m hurt and I just want to know why,” Wright added.

Official’s haven’t disclosed a motive for why Ramoutar might have killed Wright.

Alexander says an autopsy hasn’t been completed. The investigation is ongoing.

It’s unclear if Ramoutar has an attorney.
