BOSTON—A 16-year-old Boston boy authorities say fatally stabbed a 15-year-old youth who had argued with his girlfriend has been held without bail.

A not guilty plea to a murder charge was entered on behalf of Amari Pope on Monday in Dorchester Municipal Court.

Responding officers found Deon Hopkins around 4:30 p.m. Sunday near the corner of Columbia Road and Devon Street in Dorchester. Hopkins was taken to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Prosecutors said in court that Pope went into a house, grabbed a kitchen knife and then stabbed Hopkins in the heart after Hopkins got into an argument with Pope’s girlfriend.

Pope was charged as an adult.

Pope’s relatives told WBZ-AM that he’s a “good kid” with “behavioral issues.”

He’s due back in court March 30.
