A 15-year-old cheerleader was killed in a crash in Oklahoma over the weekend.

The high school student, Marina McKee, was thrown from the vehicle when the 17-year-old boy who was driving the vehicle crashed into a post on a concrete bridge.

The crash happened in Okemah, reported KFOR.

McKee was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teen driver was rushed to the hospital where he was treated, then released.

Both teens were wearing seatbelts when the single-vehicle crash occurred.

McKee loved cheerleading, with many pictures of various events related to the activity on her Facebook page.

Okemah Public Schools said in a statement, “The faculty, staff, and student body of Okemah Public Schools wish to extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family of OHS freshman Marina McKee. Words alone can not express the depth of our sorrow, nor are words adequate to convey our compassion and sympathy in this time of loss. Marina will be greatly missed by her friends, classmates, and teachers,” the schools added. “We ask that our community keep Marina’s family and friends close to your heart and in your prayers. May the peace and grace of God be with the McKee family in this time of mourning.”
