Somehow, a 125-pound Great Dane got stuck in a tree in Nebraska.

The dog, named Kora, is believed to have ran up the tree in Louisville, Neb., in pursuit of a raccoon or a squirrel, Wes McGuirk told CBS News.

“I heard the whimper again, and it was above me,” McGuirk told KOLN-TV.

McGuirk said he found her on a tree limb about 20 feet in the air. He attempted to get her down but failed.

As a result, McGuirk was forced to call on firefighters to help with the rescue.

Lt. John Hardy, a 20-year veteran firefighter, said he believed that “dispatch was messin' with us” when they got the call.

“I looked out my window and, ‘yeah, there’s a 120-pound dog up that tree,’” Hardy said.

“We kind of looked at each other ... they can’t be serious,” Jon Hardy, a lieutenant with the department, told USA Today.

Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department, Elmwood Rescue and Cass County Sheriff’s Deputies worked in tandem to get the dog down. They used a long leash and harness to lower her.

Kora wasn’t harmed in the incident.
