An article saying MTV has begun production of a new show, “12 And Pregnant,” is fake.

It was posted on Empire News, a satirical news website.

“Known for hit television shows such as The Jersey Shore, Teen Mom, and The Real World, MTV is always finding a way to bring home the ratings, even when some claim that what they are airing isn’t appropriate television. Despite controversy and complaint, the ratings speak for themselves, and the network always seems to find a way to pack the couch and have people watching the channel day-after-day for over 30 years,” it says.

According to a disclaimer, however, Empire News shouldn’t be taken seriously as it doesn’t actually publish real news stories.

“Empire News is a satirical and entertainment website. We only use invented names in all our stories, except in cases when public figures are being satirized. Any other use of real names is accidental and coincidental,” it reads.

But despite the report being satirical in nature, there was outrage on social media websites.

“12 and Pregnant? This is just sad. What mother or father would let their child go start having sex? There is only one excuse for a 12 year old being pregnant, and that is rape. That they can’t control. But parents can control what their child does. I would be absolutely furious if my 12-year old got pregnant,” one person wrote on Facebook.

Added another: “I don’t think it’s a good idea. 12 years old is crazy. The show shows other kid oh yeah I can get pregnant and get on the show. It’s just getting gross as the years go on. It’s the parents job to know where there kids are. At 12 years old my mind wasn’t even on sex. This world is just gross anymore.”
