A woman that police believed to be pregnant was among the victims of a spree of shootings in Chicago from Friday night to Sunday. The shootings left at least 10 people dead and 31 wounded, officials said.

The most recent fatal shooting was at around 8:20 p.m. on Sunday Sept. 18. A man came out of his silver sedan and started shooting at people sitting inside a parked vehicle on the 6000 Block of South Richmond, police said.

A 42-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A 37-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition after being shot in the chest, and another victim sustained a grazed gunshot wound to the nose, police said. No suspects are in custody.

These tragic shootings in Chicago might not come as a surprise to many. At the time of writing 2,721 people have been shot in Chicago this year, according to figures from The Chicago Tribune.

In the last weekend of July, at least 35 people were victims of gun crime in Chicago, including a 4-year-old boy and an 89-year-old man.

President Donald Trump has described the number of crimes and killings in Chicago as reaching “epidemic proportions.” In June, the Chicago police announced the addition of 20 federal agents to help stop gun violence in the city.

“No child in America should have to walk the streets of their neighborhood in fear of violent criminals, and yet in Chicago, thousands of children do every day,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement earlier this year.

Victims from another shooting at around 8:35 p.m. on Friday night, Sept. 15, were identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Michelle Cano, 21, Joel Sandoval, 24, Miguel Sandoval, 27 and Ida Arvizu, 28, according to The Chicago Tribune.

Officers found their bodies in a car with gunshots wounds in the Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood. Police said three of the victims were documented gang members, and the shooting appears to be gang related.

Several other fatal shootings took place over the weekend. A  man was walking to his vehicle when he was hit in the shoulder at around 10:11 aa.m. on Friday Sept. 16. The 21-year-old man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital but later died, officials said.

At around 9:22 p.m. on Friday a 33-year-old man was fatally shot while involved in an argument with another man on the 9000 block of South Merrion, police said.

At around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, a 41-year-old man was shot in the face on East 75th Street and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
