SACRAMENTO, Calif.—Theatergoers formed a long line outside the Sacramento Community Center Theater waiting to see Shen Yun Performing Arts play its final show on Jan. 3., before continuing its 2013 World Tour to San Jose, Jan.4-6.
One was Judge Stanley Hogg, who was thoroughly impressed with the New York-based company’s classical Chinese dance and music presentation.
“The music and dancing are great,” Mr. Hogg said. “Excellent, everyone is just perfect.”
Integral to Shen Yun, is Chinese dance--classical, ethnic and folk—to portray China’s authentic cultural heritage adapted from legends and myths to the China of today. The dances are accompanied by the Shen Yun Orchestra that blends classical Eastern and Western instruments in original scores. Solo musicians and vocalists add to the exhilarating show. Each performance is complemented by hi-tech animated backdrops and radiant costumes of exquisite design.
“I do like the Chinese style of dancing, long sleeves,” Mr. Hogg said. “The orchestra is very good. I would rate this show an A-plus.”
“To my friends, I would say you need to go see the show, because you would learn a lot about ancient Chinese culture.”
Mr. Hogg said he was the administrative law judge with the Social Security Administration.
