City Parks Foundation has launched the 2013 season of SummerStage presented by AT&T, New York’s largest free performing arts festival, bringing over 100 free performances to seventeen parks throughout the five boroughs. This week Summerstage features Mambo to Hip-Hop Part 3, Fat Joe / Cuarto Poder/ Los Rakas, and DJ Kool Herc, and others.

Fete Paradiso
Governors Island
Weekends, July 13–Sept. 29

This summer, Fête Paradiso, the world’s first traveling festival of vintage carnival rides and carousels, will make its American debut on Governors Island in New York City. The rare, museum-quality collection, which includes a diverse array of attractions from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, such as carousels, flying swings and a pipe organ, will be available for the public to ride and enjoy.

Target Free Saturday
Brooklyn Museum
July 6, 5 to 11 p.m.

At the Brooklyn Museum’s Target First Saturdays, thousands of visitors enjoy free programs of art and entertainment each month. This Saturday, Hungry March Band, Brooklyn’s street brass band, performs a fusion of influences ranging from New Orleans street bands to Indian wedding brass. Enjoy short films and discussions about museum exhibits.

With the aim of expanding Lincoln Center’s offerings, the Lincoln Center Festival has lined up an eclectic mix of artists and productions representing over 50 countries. Theater, music, opera, music theater, and family events. Coming up in the lineup include Hanggai, a Mongolian folk/rock band, and The Blind, an a cappella opera.

McCarren Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Each Wednesday until Aug. 14

Williamsburg’s largest outdoor film series returns to McCarren Park once again to bring you a free film every Wednesday all summer long. On July 10, it’s Can’t Hardly Wait (1998), a teenage comedy starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ethan Embry, and Charlie Korsmo.

The New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks, Presented by Didi and Oscar Schafer, have become an iconic New York summer experience since they began in 1965, transforming parks throughout New York into a patchwork of picnickers and providing music lovers with an opportunity to hear the best classical music under the stars.
