Woman Killed, 4 Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash in Santa Clarita

Excessive speed may have triggered a two-vehicle crash in Santa Clarita that killed a woman and injured four people, authorities said May 12.

The crash occurred at about 11:25 p.m. Saturday at Sand Canyon Road and Sierra Highway, involving a black truck and white SUV, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported.

The CHP said the black truck had been speeding just before the crash.

The deceased woman was identified as 30-year-old Maritza Martinez, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Paramedics dispatched to the location at 11:18 p.m. rushed four people to hospitals, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.
