Hunter Biden’s daughter reportedly resided in the White House around the same time that she legally represented a foreign nation.
She subsequently lived at the White House from August 2022 to March 2023, the Post reported. During this time she married her fiancé, Peter Neal, who is also an attorney, in November 2022.
According to the report, Ms. Biden disclosed in September of 2021, that she was acting as legal representative for the government of Peru in a case that saw the country being accused of interfering in an oil operation by a U.S. company.
The company, Worth Capital Holdings 27 LLC, claimed the Peruvian government stifled operations at one of the company’s oil refineries in the southern Amazon, for which the company sought hundreds of millions of dollars in damages.
According to a spokesman for Arnold & Porter, however, Ms. Biden worked on the case only throughout the month of September 2021 as an international arbitration associate.
“Naomi Biden’s international arbitration work doesn’t include matters involving the United States government—she is a junior lawyer and a member of international arbitration teams involving private sector plaintiffs. She doesn’t discuss confidential client work with anyone inside or outside the White House,” the spokesman told the Post.
The case is still ongoing, but there’s no clear indication of Ms. Biden’s role, nor of how many foreign nations she represented during her time at the law firm.
Yet, there seemingly have been efforts to keep Ms. Biden’s involvement out of the public eye, such as not assigning her a public web page, as it is the case for other lawyers at the company.
The report drew comments from New York Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.), who noted that “major conflicts of interest” seem to surround the Biden family.
“Everywhere we look it seems there are major conflicts of interest in which the Biden family leveraged their name, access, and patriarch’s power to benefit personal business dealings. All of this must continue to be investigated and exposed—perhaps Biden’s granddaughter should be the next person to come before the Oversight Committee,” she said.
Naomi Biden’s father, Hunter Biden, is currently being investigated for allegedly using the Biden family name to amass millions of dollars from foreign nations such as China and Ukraine.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden is facing an impeachment inquiry over whether he was involved in any of his son’s business dealings, or if he directly obtained cash from foreign nations.
A Democratic strategist for the Bidens said Republicans have blown the matter out of proportion.
“The actual facts show how ridiculous this is, but House Republicans are never ones to let truth get in the way,“ the strategist told the Post. ”They are grasping at straws when they should be focused on making sure the government doesn’t shut down and hurt millions of families.”
NTD reached out to Arnold & Porter and the White House, but did not receive a reply before publication.
